JOURNAL ENTRIES

Journal entries are pieces of writing that can form a whole depending on how it is organised. Each entry of a journal could highlight something different. Journals are usually expressions of one's interest and opinion. Although they are mostly private, we still share them once in a while for the sake of having someone else read through them and improve on them generally.

So then, let's roll; take one step up in your writing today and start your journal entry.

.

Andy decides to give his Toys to Bonnie when he was about to go to college. It was a hard decision for him, especially parting with woody, which had always  been his favourite toy from childhood.

Listen to these young writers as they discuss some picture scenes from Toy Story 3.

PICTURE STORY : The Celebration

Pictures are useful tools in creative writing, because they inspire a lot of writers, and that includes young writers. Many things could trigger a writer’s imagination to come up with a fictional story and pictures are certainly one of them.  Enjoy reading the picture stories of these great minds.

Once there was a woman who decided to bake a cake. She put the cake in the oven for few minutes to bake. After that, she iced the cake pink and blue. Her kids loved it when she used those colours on cakes. She was happy with her work. Then as she was walking with the cake, she slipped and the cake fell off her hands.

She looked down and saw the broken pieces of the cake on the floor. She was unhappy and decided to bake another cake.  When she was done, she carried the cake again. This time she walked more carefully. She invited a friend and they had a meal and ate the cake. Every body was happy.

The End

A long time ago, there lived a man and his wife. They both lived in a small village. The man's name was Marco and the wife's name was Angel. One day, Marco traveled to a nearby town for business. He called Angel after a week, that he was coming back home. So the wife Angel, started preparing for the husband's return. The day he was to return was his birthday anniversary. Angel planned on baking a surprise birthday cake for him.

Finally that day came. She mixed the ingredients for the cake and put it in the oven. Then she set her alarm clock to check when the cake would be ready. She slept off and did not hear her alarm clock. The cake got burnt. When she woke up, she realised that her cake was burnt and became confused.

Angel decided after a while to bake another cake. She quickly mixed the ingredients again and put the cake in the oven to bake. She did not use the alarm clock like she did before, she decided to wait and check the cake herself. Soon the cake was ready and she quickly decorated it with icing and candles.

Marco came back and his wife surprised him with the cake, they sat down and ate the cake together.

One day, Mrs. Trump woke up and saw that Mr. Trump had gone to work. So she decided to prepare a surprise dinner for him. Then suddenly, she had a call from Mr. Trump and he said that he was going to come back late. That gave her enough time to prepare for the surprise dinner.

Then when Mr. Trump was coming back from work something happened. He was distracted while driving and didn’t look at the road. He didn’t see an oncoming vehicle and had an accident. He was taken to the hospital by some good people.

The Hospital called Mrs. Trump to come to the hospital immediately. When she came, she saw what happened to her husband and prayed for him. Luckily Mr. Trump got better. After Mr. Trump fully recovered, His wife still made sure that they had their surprise dinner one Saturday night.

From that day onwards, Mr. Trump promised that he would never drive alone again. Sometimes, he would use a taxi to go to work. He also prayed before going to work. And when he eventually started driving by himself again, he would look at wherever he drove. He became a more careful man.

Few minutes past ten o' clock in the morning, a young girl called and ordered for a birthday cake. Mrs. Joseph baked the cake and iced it. It was a lovely cake.

When the young girl came for the cake, she carried it and walked towards the door. The cake fell off from her hands and scattered on the floor. The girl was sad, but Mrs. Joseph promised to make another one for her.

Mrs. Joseph kept her promise and baked another cake for her client. She delivered the cake herself at her client’s house.

The Five Stages of Writing

THE FIVE STAGES OF WRITING

Every writing that must come out well is not gotten from the surface, but goes through a process that helps to improve it as it goes. Below are these stages:

1.   Pre writing: This is the first stage of writing, where a writer explores and chooses a topic, gathers his details and organises them before writing.

2.   Drafting: At this stage, the ideas are put down on paper, in the  format that the finished work would appear.

3.   Revising: This is the stage where the writer improves on his content, and corrects major errors in the writing.

4.   Editing and Proofreading: This is the stage where all mechanics are fixed. It involves correcting errors in grammar, punctuations and spellings.
